Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN’s test driver Robert Kubica was fastest on Day 1 of the second F1 pre-season test at Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.
Kubica was fastest in the morning session of Day 1 in second F1 pre-season test at Barcelona with a 1m16.942s lap, which he retained to be the quickest overall despite the spint, as he led Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen (1m17.347s, C3)
Verstappen triggered the final red flag of the day as he locked-up to stop on track. Racing Point’s Sergio Perez (1m17.428s, C3) was third as he led AlphaTauri duo Daniil Kvyat (1m17.456s, C3) and Pierre Gasly (1m17.540s, C4).
Even Kvyat stopped on track just when Verstappen had come to a halt. At the same time, Gasly had loose pipe issues during the morning session, which kept him off track for long. Red Bull Racing’s Alexander Albon (1m17.550s, C2) was sixth.
Albon also couldn’t run much in the morning session due to suspension issues. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton (1m17.562s, C2) was seventh with Racing Point’s Lance Stroll (1m17.787s, C2) eighth and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas (1m18.100s, C3) ninth.
