Former McLaren F1 boss Ron Dennis has launched an initiative where he will be providing free meals for frontline NHS workers fighting COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen multiple efforts everywhere in the world, who are stepping forward to help the healthcare sector to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. In F1, teams have stepped in to provide various aide machines to help the patients.

While several are working on the ventilator project, Mercedes has developed a breathing aide with the help of UCL and UCLH, which has been approved for mass manufacture. Amid all the gloom of deaths and infections, such positive news is more than welcome.

Joining in the list is former McLaren F1 boss, Dennis, who has co-founded SalutetheNHS.org initiative which has been set-up to provide free meals to all the frontline healthcare workers of NHS, as they put all their efforts to save the patients.

Dennis aims to provide one million meals to the NHS workers. “This is a time when all of us, individuals and businesses alike, need to stand up and be counted in the effort to combat Covid-19,” the British businessman was quoted in an Independent story.

“We’re all in this together. I am delighted to be leading this initiative to help ensure that vital NHS workers have nutritious meals while they work every hour in this fight. It means they have one less thing to worry about.

“We have called this SalutetheNHS.org because I think we are all in awe of the work they are doing to save lives.” The Dennis family, in fact, is donating £1 million through their charity foundation Dreamchasing, alongside £500,000 in match-funding.

They have joined hands with Tesco, who will donate food for the meals. The initiative is supported by catering group Absolute Taste and delivery service Yodel, who will make sure that it reaches to the people who cannot leave the hospitals in such times.
