Ferrari has announced the promotion of Dino Beganovic to its roster as a reserve driver for the 2027 Formula 1 season. This decision comes after seven years of trajectory in the Scuderia’s driver academy, where Beganovic has stood out in various competitions.
The young Swedish-Bosnian driver began his career in the world of karting, where he won championships in Italy and Sweden, and positioned himself as second in the WSK Euro Series. In his time in Ferrari’s young talents program, Beganovic has achieved notable successes, including third place as a rookie in the Italian F4 and victory in the European Regional Championship in his second season.
Currently, Beganovic occupies the fifth position in the F2 standings, with two recent victories at Madring and Baku. Despite his successes, he has been surpassed by another Ferrari talent, Rafael Camara, who leads the F2 championship standings as a rookie and will have an opportunity in F1 with Haas.
Thus, Beganovic’s career in the lower categories comes to an end without a place on the F1 grid, but he will join Ferrari’s reserve alongside Antonio Giovinazzi. At just 22 years old, Beganovic has participated in four free practice sessions with the Scuderia during the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and will now take on additional responsibilities in car development.
Although Beganovic and Camara leave F2, another Ferrari driver, Tuukka Taponen, will ascend to this category after an impressive third place in the F3, achieving three podiums in the last two grands prix and without having achieved any top-3 prior to that. Ferrari’s talent dynamics continue to evolve with the addition of new names to their ranks.
