Maverick Viñales has shared his frustration after signing a new contract with KTM, only to be informed that it was not valid for the Austrian brand.
The Spanish rider expressed that he feels ‘out of this world’ regarding his future in MotoGP, especially with 2027 nearly complete, leaving Tech3 as the only team that has yet to confirm its lineup for the next season.
Recently, Viñales admitted that the absence of a call-up for the Brno test was a sine die of his continuity with KTM, and he has confirmed that conversations with the team currently do not exist. ‘Not anymore. I’m not going to talk to them. I think last week was the final terms. After that, obviously, I’m not talking anymore,’ he stated.
As for his aspirations, the rider has ruled out the idea of continuing in MotoGP, claiming that there are no available spots. ‘I don’t know. I think in the bike I’ve done everything I could. Good moments may come or not. I don’t know. I’m not even looking for it in other categories,’ he added.
With an uncertain future in mind, Viñales has expressed his desire to enjoy the competition more than ever. ‘Maybe I want to race and enjoy the races. But at this moment, I’m not looking for anything. I just want an amazing vacation,’ he commented.
Additionally, he revealed that he had signed a contract sent by KTM on May 31, intending to compete, although he himself acknowledges that the conditions were not the best. Two weeks later, the team informed him that the contract was not valid. ‘What can you expect after that? I don’t want to stay here,’ he said.
Viñales has made it clear that he does not see himself in a future with KTM, expressing his dissatisfaction with the current situation and the lack of seriousness on the part of the team. ‘I like competition and maybe in the future I would like to participate in other races,’ he concluded.
