Jehan Daruvala has joined Mahindra Racing in reserve capacity for the 2022/23 FIA Formula E season in a new chapter in his career.
Having raced in F2 in the last few seasons, Daruvala has taken up the reserve role with Mahindra for the 2022/23 Formula E season as he becomes the second Indian driver in the team after Karun Chandhok raced for them at the start of the championship.
Daruvala will majorly work at Banbury HQ doing simulator work to help Mahindra in development of the car and also assist Lucas di Grassi and Oliver Rowland. The Indian will attend selected races which includes his home event in Hyderabad.
“To be a part of an Indian motorsport team is a dream come true,” said Daruvala, who has also tested in F1 with McLaren. “Formula E is very competitive, and I am really excited about this new chapter of my career. Season 9 promises to be very exciting with the all-new Gen 3 car and I am looking forward to learning and contributing, especially to car development and supporting the team.
