Christopher Bell, a prominent NASCAR driver, will not participate in the Craftsman Truck Series race in Richmond after inclement weather forced the event to be postponed until 12:00 PM (EST) on Saturday. Bell had qualified in 17th position with his Toyota from the Halmar-Friesen Racing team.
Bell’s decision to withdraw from the race is due to the inability to compete in the two consecutive races —the Truck and the Cup, scheduled just a few hours apart. Instead, Leland Honeyman Jr. will take the wheel of the No. 62, but will start from the back of the grid.
Honeyman, marking his second appearance in the NCTS this season and only the third of his career, already competed at the Charlotte circuit last May, where he finished 23rd. This year, he has accumulated 66 races in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series, with a total of seven appearances as a part-time driver, including some at Richmond where he finished 20th.
Bell will return for his next race, scheduled at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, where he has already achieved a victory with the HFR team in Bristol. Despite his seven second-place finishes in the 2026 Cup season, he is still seeking his first triumph.
In another aspect of the race, Shane van Gisbergen, who has secured his first pole position in NASCAR during qualifying for the Richmond race, will continue to compete as the only driver making double duty over the weekend.
