Christian Rasmussen, after a full season in IndyCar with Ed Carpenter Racing, will reunite with Era Motorsport to participate in the Battle on the Bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 26-year-old Danish driver will co-drive the #18 Oreca 07 Gibson in the LMP2 class, alongside Nick Boulle, who was already confirmed.
Rasmussen brings a winning track record to the team, highlighting his contribution to Era Motorsport’s victory in the LMP2 class during the 2024 Rolex 24 at Daytona. He has been a regular with the team for two seasons, and his last race with a prototype was in January, at the same Rolex 24, but with AO Racing.
The excitement for this return is palpable. “I am excited to return with my friends at Era. I have many wonderful memories with this team, especially winning the Rolex 24 together,” Rasmussen commented. Additionally, he expressed his enthusiasm for working with Boulle, stating he believes both have a strong team to compete for the front positions.
On the other hand, for Boulle, this race will mean a return to high-performance prototype machines after a year off from LMP2 competition. “I am very excited about the challenge. We have been working with the great car that Kyle Tilley put together, and the opportunity to join for this race in Indianapolis could not be missed,” he added.
The duo of Rasmussen and Boulle will only compete in the two-hour and 40-minute sprint race at the Brickyard. The regular team for the Michelin Endurance Cup, which includes Ferdinand Habsburg, Jacob Abel, and Naveen Rao, will drive the #18 unit again for the IMSA season finale, the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta next month.
