Chase Elliott, driver for Hendrick Motorsports, will announce his participation in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, driving the number 7 Chevrolet Silverado from Spire Motorsports at North Wilkesboro. This will be his first appearance in this category after more than three years of absence, specifically since the first race of the 2023 season in Daytona.
The race was initially designed for Kyle Busch to compete in the Truck Series this season, but his unexpected death last month caused changes in the lineup. He was looking to compete in multiple races with Spire during 2026.
The number 7 truck from Spire has seen a rotation of drivers throughout the season, including names like Rajah Caruth, Connor Mosack, and Corey Day. Only Busch had managed victories behind the wheel of this unit, with his last triumphs in his career.
Chase Elliott’s background in the Truck Series includes 18 competitions, with a total of three victories achieved on circuits such as CTMP (2013), Martinsville (2017), and Charlotte (2020). However, he had never raced at North Wilkesboro in a Truck. In his experience in the Cup Series, he has achieved notable results with fifth, eighth, and fifth-place finishes in the All-Star race at this historic track.
Recently, Elliott made his first appearance of the 2026 season in the NASCAR O’Reilly, achieving a second place in Chicagoland. Additionally, this year he has secured two victories in the Cup Series, placing fifth in the overall standings of Hendrick Motorsports.
