Chase Elliott, driver of Hendrick Motorsports, has been confirmed to race in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event in over three years. This race was initially scheduled for another big name, Kyle Busch, who would have been one of his appearances in 2026 in this series. His sadly recent passing has caused this driver change.
Over the course of this year, the number 7 truck has had several drivers, including Busch, Rajah Caruth, and Connor Mosack, among others. Busch achieved the last two wins of his career in charge of this vehicle during the 2026 season.
Elliott has a record of only 18 races in NASCAR Truck, where he has achieved three victories: at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in 2013, at Martinsville in 2017, and at Charlotte in 2020. Despite his experience, he has never competed at North Wilkesboro in a truck. In Cup Series races, his best performances on this historic track have been a fifth and an eighth place in the All-Star Race.
Recently, Elliott finished in second place in his first appearance of the 2026 season at the NASCAR O’Reilly. So far, he has achieved two victories in the Cup Series this season and is in fifth place in the standings, leading the Hendrick Motorsports team.
