Lando Norris was fastest in FP3 in F1 Canadian GP to put McLaren on top for the first in the weekend, ahead of Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

Much like how we saw in FP1 and FP2, the FP3 had multiple moments in FP3 of F1 Canadian GP. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso had to take avoiding action in the final corner, while Williams’ Alexander Albon took the grass route at one moment in the session.

There was a bigger spin for Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg in the final corner where he brushed the Wall of Champions – both the rear and front. The same corner caught out McLaren’s Oscar Piastri where he damaged the right rear wheel. There was red flag to clear the debris.

Amid the traffic issues, Visa Cash App RB’s Isack Hadjar spun after loosing the rear at Turn 1 – the same way Franco Colapinto spun on Friday. At the front, it was McLaren’s Lando Norris fastest with a 1m11.799s lap, but Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was only 0.078s behind in second.

The Monegasque got a full run after missing much of Friday. His late push dropped Mercedes’ George Russell to third, with Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton in fourth. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was fifth from Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, with Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli in seventh.

It was not a good FP3 for Piastri in eighth, who ventured out after the wall hit. The Williams pair of Carlos Sainz and Albon rounded out the Top 10, with Hadjar in 11th from Alpine’s Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman was sandwiched by the other Visa Cash App RB of Liam Lawson.

Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll returned as well in 14th from Haas pair of Oliver Bearman and Esteban Ocon, as Alpine’s Colapinto was 17th from Sauber pair of Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto, as Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda was only 20th. The Japanese driver complained of low grip but ran limited number of laps.

To make things worse, both Tsunoda and Bortoleto are under investigation for red flag infringement. In terms of the PU elements, both Leclerc and Hamilton took their third ICE, TC, MGU-H and MGU-K.
