Tatiana Calderon has been confirmed for a FIA Formula 2 (F2) Championship graduation with BWT Arden outfit for the 2019 season.

The Colombian re-unites with Arden, the team she entered with in the GP3 Series in 2016. She joins reigning GP3 champion and Renault junior Anthoine Hubert in the set-up with the duo gearing up for their rookie F2 campaign in 2019.

“I’m very excited to compete in the FIA F2 Championship with Team BWT Arden in technical partnership with HWA RACELAB. It is a new challenge in my career and a step closer to my ultimate goal: Formula 1,” said Calderon.

“I want to thank my sponsors Coldeportes and Escudería Telmex-Claro for making it happen and to my family for always giving me their unconditional support. I’m sure we will achieve great things together. I can’t wait for testing to start next week.”

BWT Arden Team Principle & CEO Garry Horner added: “We are delighted to welcome Tatiana back into the Arden fold. Her recent testing results in Formula 2 have been very impressive and I am certain she will be a strong team- mate alongside Anthoine.”

The news comes after Sauber revealed its junior drivers earlier in the week which did not feature Calderon in the list. Although it is not confirmed yet but it could indicate the end of her relation with the F1 team which has been re-branded as Alfa Romeo Racing.

The year 2018 has been one of the biggest for her career as she not only drove the GP3 car but also F2, Formula E and most importantly, the F1 car. It remains to be seen if she gets anymore chances in F1 in the current season.
