Jenson Button is to be part of Williams’ 800th F1 race which will be spread out in the British GP and Hungarian GP.

The cancellation of Imola race has pushed Williams to celebrate the 800 F1 grand prix milestone during British GP (799th) and the Hungarian GP (800th). The decision has been taken to ensure the home fans in Silverstone get a chance to be involved as well.

There will be a bespoke livery on FW45 for the home race in Silverstone which will pay homage to Sir Frank Williams, while they will sport a special emblem in Budapest. Additionally, in Silverstone, the 1992 title-winning FW14B will be driven by Button.

The off-track celebrations will see a London Fanzone event from Monday of the British GP until Sunday – the day of the grand prix – at 48 Regent Street. The fanzone will have Alina Prost’s 1993 championship winning car on display for the fans.

The fanzone will be visited by Button, Alexander Albon, Logan Sargeant and James Vowles. It will also feature a STEM education area to inspire next generation. “Reaching the milestone of our 800th Grand Prix is a remarkable achievement for Williams Racing,” said Vowles. “We are incredibly proud of our history and the legacy built over the years.

“Over our 46-year history, the team has achieved incredible results. With nine Constructors’ championships and seven Drivers’ titles to our name we are the second most successful Formula 1 team of all time, only behind Ferrari. We invite all our fans to join us in this celebration as we pay tribute to our iconic past and look towards a bright future.”
