NASCAR has decided to sanction two members of Bubba Wallace’s team, driver of the No. 23 car for 23XI Racing, as a consequence of an incident that occurred during the race in San Diego. Adam Hartman, rear tire changer, and Nathan Ricketts, jack operator, will be suspended for the next two NASCAR Cup Series races.
These crew members will not be able to participate in the competitions taking place at Sonoma Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway. Instead, they will be able to return to their regular activities on the weekend of July 12 at EchoPark Speedway, located in Atlanta.
During the race, a wheel from the right side of Wallace’s vehicle detached during a caution flag on lap 20, forcing him to stay in the pits for two complete laps. Despite this setback, Wallace made a notable effort and managed to recover, finishing in second place, just behind his teammate Corey Heim, in a standout 1-2 for the organization led by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.
This result has been Wallace’s best of the season, as he has now improved two positions in the overall standings. However, he will have to manage the next two races without the support of his usual tire changer and jack operator.
