Marco Bezzecchi, rider for Aprilia Racing, has made it clear that he is not willing to give up in his fight for the MotoGP title, despite having lost more ground to Marc Márquez, Ducati rider, in the recent Malaysian Grand Prix.

After a promising start to the season with three consecutive victories, Bezzecchi has seen Márquez manage to reduce a 102-point deficit, positioning himself in an almost unassailable spot in the standings in just four months.

Current Situation of Bezzecchi

In the last race at Sepang, the Spaniard achieved his seventh victory of the season, while Bezzecchi conceded 67 points to him. Also, his teammate, Jorge Martín, who is recovering from an injury, finds himself 44 points further back in the standings ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix.

This scenario means that Márquez can secure the title early if he surpasses Bezzecchi by eight points and Martín by 30 points in the next race at the Losail International Circuit.

Bezzecchi’s Determination

Despite the adversities, Bezzecchi is not ready to surrender. He has stated that he will continue fighting until the mathematics indicate otherwise. ‘It is very difficult. Really, it is complicated. But until the mathematics are on our side, I will keep believing and working as hard as possible every day, at home and in the races,’ said the Italian rider.

His aspirations began to decline in June when he was eliminated by Martín during the Hungarian Grand Prix, and was penalized in the Czech Grand Prix for an incident with a marshal. However, the hardest blow was the crash at Sachsenring, which caused him injuries to his collarbone and knee, which still affect his current performance.

A Difficult Comeback

After the summer break, Bezzecchi has only achieved one victory, although he has been consistent in securing podiums. In the Malaysian GP, he finished third in the sprint race but dropped to sixth place in the full race, largely due to an error on the last lap.

Regarding whether he has achieved more consistency but lost speed, Bezzecchi admitted that his mid-season injuries have kept him in a constant effort to recover. ‘I am working hard, and if I have achieved it once, I can try again,’ he concluded.
