Francesco Bagnaia, rider of the Ducati team, has seen how his path to the MotoGP title for 2026 has been affected by various technical problems. In total, these setbacks have cost him more than 40 points in the standings, leaving him in eighth place at a critical moment in the season.

In the last competition held in Assen, Bagnaia had to retire from fourth position due to a brake problem. Nevertheless, the rider did not want to specify the details of his retirement when he spoke to the media before the German Grand Prix at Sachsenring.

“What happened with the bike is a matter I cannot comment on. I could only return to the pit”, Bagnaia said about his stop at the Dutch GP. However, he acknowledged that the various reliability problems have notably affected his title chase.

According to his estimates, the loss of points can be attributed to failures in races like the GP of Spain, Le Mans and Assen, totaling more than 40 points. As he enters the German Grand Prix, he is 63 points behind the championship leader, Jorge Martin.

Despite the difficulties, Bagnaia has shown better form in the last races, achieving four consecutive podiums between the GPs of Catalunya and Czech Republic, including a victory in the sprint race in Brno. With the aim of recovering ground, he has expressed confidence in being able to turn the situation around: “We need to get back to the top of the standings, even if it hasn’t been easy so far”.
