Francesco Bagnaia has reacted strongly to a video in which he appeared to claim that Ducati was preventing him from adjusting his bike, insisting that his words were “totally taken out of context”.

After a disappointing race at the Misano circuit, the Ducati Team rider was recorded during a conversation with Fabio di Giannantonio of VR46, which the DAZN network broadcasted. In Italian, Di Giannantonio suggested that Bagnaia had tried a bike setup that he himself described as “very basic”, thus provoking a flood of comments on social media.

Arriving at the Red Bull Ring a few days later, Bagnaia dismissed suggestions that Ducati was not supporting him in his recent setbacks, while criticizing DAZN for broadcasting the material. “The team has always supported me, and I have said it several times,” he stated.

According to Bagnaia, the recording of the conversation was “totally disrespectful”. He explained that, while what he said could have been misinterpreted, it was nothing more than a private conversation that was misconstrued. “What we talked about was not a secret, but it was out of context,” he declared.

Bagnaia clarified that he had tried various solutions to address the rear grip issues of his bike: “What I meant to say is that I have been testing and eliminating changes that Ducati no longer allows to be made, but it’s just because I’ve done it many times before”. He admitted that his words might have sounded incorrect.

Despite the controversies, the rider assured that his relationship with Ducati remains good. After discussing the content of the video with the team management, he emphasized that there is no change in their relationship. “We talked about this. We know that the things shown on television might look terrible, but Ducati is aware of my support for the team”.
