Lewis Hamilton remained on top in FP2 of F1 Austrian GP to lead a Mercedes 1-2 as several drivers had offs in various parts of the circuit.

Having had a Mercedes 1-2 to start the 2020 F1 season in FP1 of Austrian GP at Red Bull Ring, they maintained their position with Hamilton (1m04.304s) leading Valtteri Bottas (1m04.501s), while Racing Point’s Sergio Perez (1m04.945s) was third.

Leading Ferrari was Sebastian Vettel (1m04.961s) in fourth as he was one of the many drivers’ to have an off moment. Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo (1m04.972s) was fifth with McLaren’s Lando Norris (1m05.087s) sixth from Racing Point’s Lance Stroll (1m05.135s).

The Canadian had a minor off at Turn 3 late in the session too. He led Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen (1m05.215s) and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc (1m05.298s) in eighth and ninth with McLaren’s Carlos Sainz (1m05.352s) rounding the Top 10.

Like how FP1, Verstappen had an off but this it was on the gravel rather than a spin. Renault’s Esteban Ocon (1m05.415s) returned to action to be 1tth after missing bit of the first session when a part fell off from the rear of his car.

AlphaTauri’s Daniil Kvyat (1m05.443s) and Red Bull’s Alexander Albon (1m05.453s) ended up 12th and 13th, with both having a spin – the former having another one in the final corner like FP1, while the latter spun at Turn 1 where his teammate did in the first session.

Alfa Romeo Racing’s Antonio Giovinazzi (1m05.608s) managed to beat his teammate to be 14th with Haas’ Kevin Magnussen (1m05.678s) 15th from teammate Romain Grosjean (1m05.908s). The Frenchman completed 50 laps after missing chunks in FP1.

Behind, AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly (1m06.016s) was 17th having set his quickest lap on hard compound, with Williams’ George Russell (1m06.125s) in 18th, Afla Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen (1m06.278s) 19th and Williams’ Nicholas Latifi (1m07.124s) 20th. The Finn set his time on medium compound and had a gravel run as well.
