The #7 Audi won the 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps after a fantastic race. The #18 Porsche finished second and the #17 third. In LMP2 victory for the #38 Jota Sport and in GTE Pro the #99 Aston Martin won.
On the start, the three Porsches kept the lead while behind the Audis and the Toyotas were figting. The #7 Audi broke the one-two-three Porsche on the second lap after overtaking the #19 Porsche. Inmediatly the Porsche return to the third position after a greate overtake at La Source.
On LMP2 category, Tincknell did a fantastic start putting the #38 Jota Sport in the first position, on the contrary than Sam Bird who lost two places. Bird went back to the second place soon after overtake Oliver Webb.
Aston Martin led in GTE in front of the AF Corse Ferraris.
After 10 minutes of racing, first problems for the #19 Porsche which crashed into th #91 GTE Pro Porsche causing a lot of damages on the LMP1 Porsche. The #7 Audi went back to the third place and started fighting with the #18 Porsche. Fassler made a mistake and was overtaked by the #8 Audi.
After the first drives change, we passed the first hour of race. Both Porsches, #17 and #18 lead in LMP1 in front of the Audis. In LMP2, the #26 G-Driver ligier led in front of the #38 Jota Sport. Aston Martin continue leading in GTE with the #97 first and the #99 second.
Another mistake of the #19 Porsche which went of before Hulkenberg took the car. The #17 Porsche had problems too and lost the lead after a very bad pit stop. With this we completed the second hour of race, the #18 Porsche led with the #7 and #8 Audi behind. In LMP2 the leader changed, the #38 Jota Sport overtook the #26 Ligier. In GTE Pro the Aston Martins continued his leadership.
On the third hour, the most important thing was the contact between the G-Drive Ligier and the #50 Corvette which had to retire due the big damages of the car.
Double spin of both AF Corse Ferraris at the bus stop, the #88 Porsche was involved too but, fortunately, there weren’t damages on the cars. The #71 Ferrari which was second lost three places.
We passed the middle of the race and the #18 Porsche led with 26 seconds of gap with the #7 Audi. Followed by the #8 Audi. The Porsche #17, which was running in sixth place, closed the gap with both Toyotas which were in fourth and fifth position.
Webber took advantage of the top speed of his Porsche 919 and overtook the #1 Toyota after Eau Rouge. At the same lap, the australian driver overtook the #2 Toyota too and took the fourth position.
Problems for the #8 Audi and the #1 Toyota which lost a lot of times in boxes reparing some mechanic issues. The Audi had gearbox problems and the Toyota throttle problems.
After that, the Strakka Racing Dome spun on the last corner, but, thanks to the marshalls, he could return to the track.
The Audi #7 and the #18 Porsche had a diferent tire strategy, the Porsche had fresh tires and he closed the gap with the Audi. Lieb went side by side with Lotterer but the Audi driver braked after and kept the lead.
A few laps later, Lieb went off the track and lost a few seconds with Lotterer. The #7 Audi stopped to change tires and driver. Treluyer took the car but he lost the lead because the Porsche only stopped to put fuel.
Treluyer with fresh tires arrived to Lieb‘s Porsche and overtook him at the first corner but he lost the lead again becaus of the higher top speed of the Porsche. After that, Treluyer did a fantastic overtake on the outside of Campus corner.
Gianmaria Bruni with the #51 Ferrari closed the gap with the #99 Aston Martin, drived in that moment by Macdowall. With a fantastic overtake at the bus stop, Bruni took the lead.
We entered into the last hour and the #7 Audi led with the #18 Porsche second. On LMP2 the #38 Jota Sport led and in GTE Pro was Bruni with the #51 Ferrari who was leading.
The #18 Porsche took the lead with fresh tires but after that, he stopped to put fuel. The #7 Audi stopped some laps later to do a splash of fuel and take the car to the finish line.
The #51 Ferrari was closing the gap with the Aston Martin but a 1-minute penalty for exceed the maximum mechanics on his pit stop made that the Aston Martin led with more than 30 seconds with the next car, the #92 Porsche.
3 minutes to go and the #8 Audi who was running in seventh position went off in turn 15 and crashed into the wall.
Finally the #7 Audi of Treluyer, Fassler and Lotterer won the 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps in front of the #18 Porsche and the #17 Porsche. In LMP2 #38 Jota Sport won in front of the #28 G-Drive Ligier. In GTE Pro victory for the #99 Aston Martin with both oficial Porsches after him.
Next race will be the 24 hours of Le Mans on June 13th.
