In an exciting development during the second qualifying session of the Nurburgring 24h, Christian Krognes has etched his name in history by recording the fastest time. The Norwegian driver, behind the wheel of the Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin #34, achieved a time of 8:18.515 minutes on a track that, despite the wet conditions, began to improve towards the end of the session.

After heavy overnight rain, the session started with a damp track and cool temperatures of 5°C, which forced a 15-minute delay to the start of the round. As the minutes passed, conditions improved, allowing drivers to optimize their times, and Krognes closed the session with the best lap.

During the competition, Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen initially managed to break the nine-minute barrier with his Mercedes #3, but in the final phase, he stayed in the pits, causing him to fall to 32nd place. Nevertheless, Verstappen expressed a positive attitude regarding the state of the vehicle and his learning during the session.

As the session went on, other drivers, like Dennis Marschall with the Kondo Ferrari #45, improved Verstappen’s time, while more teams switched from wet tires to slicks. Ultimately, the qualifying podium was completed with the Porsche Dunlop #17 in second place and the Ford HRT #67 in third.

The times achieved by vehicles in the SP9, SP-X, and SP-Pro categories do not determine the starting positions for the main race, which will be resolved in the final qualifying session at 10:40 AM local time. For this occasion, the driver who will drive the Mercedes #3 will not be Verstappen, but his teammate Lucas Auer.

The second race of the qualifying sessions of the Nurburgring 24h will take place at 1:00 PM CET. In an emotional moment, before the race, there will be a minute of silence in memory of driver Juha Miettinen, who lost his life yesterday in an accident.
