It was the German Maximilian Günther (Arden International) who was the first to set an official fastest lap. The lap time was 18 seconds slower, than what he set during pre-season testing, in this same scenario.
As the clock progressed, the drivers were improving their lap-times. Alexander Albon (Dams) was the one who started setting a decent lap of 1min 44.7 seconds.
A few minutes later, the FIA Formula 3 European champion, Lando Norris (Carlin) beat the Thai by one tenth.
Later was the Trident driver, Arjun Maini who set the fastest lap of the session with 16 minutes left in the clock, setting a lap of 1:44.549 minutes.
The Indian driver finished in front of Carlin’s of Norris and Sergio Sette Camara, who was followed by Albon and the GP3 Series champion, George Russell (ART Grand Prix) who completed top5 of final classification.
It has also been a session in which many drivers meet race track limits. Who has found in this situation many times, has been the Italian Antonio Fuoco (Charouz Racing), who has starred many went-off situations. However, Ferrari junior driver finished in ninth position.
The FIA F2 will return to action at 19:10 (European time) with the qualifying session, which will be held under night conditions.
