Fernando Alonso’s journey into rally-raid racing and eventual debut in 2020 Dakar Rally will be shown as a feature, which will release on Amazon Prime.

After the success of Netflix’s F1 Drive to Survive, more racing features is coming up on various platforms, as Amazon Prime announced a five-part series titled ‘Fernando’. It will showcase Alonso’s journey into the 2020 Dakar Rally.

Having raced in F1, Indy500 and also the FIA World Endurance Championship, Alonso decided to conquer one of the world’s most grueling cross-country rally dubbed as Dakar. The 2020 event took place in Saudi Arabia for the first time.

Alonso drove the Toyota Hilux with Marc Coma as his co-driver. The Spaniard finished 13th on his debut and was the best rookie. The feature will cover his preparation and how the event panned out. It will also have sister Lorena Alonso and partner Linda Morselli.

The show will go on air on Amazon Prime later in 2020 with a date not yet set. It will make its debut in countries like Spain, France, Italy, United Kingdom and Latin America. Javier Mendez, director of global content at The Mediapro Studio, said:

“The series will share with Fernando his reflections about his possible come back to F1. Fernando is a winner and his goal along this year has been to demonstrate that he is the best driver in any four wheels vehicle.”
