Formula 1 driver Alex Albon shared a fun anecdote about an unexpected encounter with Max Verstappen during his summer vacation in Sardinia. Albon was learning to do e-foiling when he had the surprise of bumping into the Red Bull Racing driver.

In the team’s official podcast, Albon commented that he dedicated four days to enjoying the beaches of the famous Italian island. In the middle of his activities, he decided to try e-foiling, a discipline that consists of gliding over a board with a hydrofoil. While trying to keep his balance, he noticed a figure moving at high speed, who turned out to be Verstappen.

“I was learning to e-foil and suddenly I see this guy zooming by, sitting at the edge of the board. He seemed completely calm, like a Buddha,” Albon described. After asking a friend who that driver was, he finally recognized it was Max.

In addition to his stay in Sardinia, Albon made a brief visit to South Africa and spent a week in the Dolomites before wrapping up his vacation training in Monaco. Now, with the return of F1 after the summer break, Albon has participated in a sprint race weekend in Zandvoort, where he finished 16th in the sprint race and qualified again in that position for the Dutch Grand Prix.
