Over the last 18 months, he has significantly reduced his accident rate, prioritizing consistent results in the Top 5 rather than risky infringements.
However, Stoner points out that Acosta can still improve, particularly in his interactions with riders like Marc Márquez and Enea Bastianini. The Australian comments that ‘we have seen Pedro’s talent, but I would like to see a bit more patience. I think there are certain riders he doesn’t want to yield to, and that can lead him to hasty decisions.’
Acosta, who has shown great level with the Red Bull KTM team, has been the scoring record of his team, significantly surpassing other brand teammates. However, he has not yet achieved a Grand Prix victory in his three seasons in the top category, a challenge complicated by KTM’s performance against competitors like Aprilia and Ducati.
Stoner emphasizes that a better vehicle could allow Acosta to showcase his true potential, especially with Ducati, a model that has already proven to be competitive. ‘Once we see Pedro on the Ducati, we will learn much more about his level.’
Next year, Acosta will pair with the new World Champion for the ninth time, Márquez, promising to assimilate one of the most intriguing sets MotoGP has seen recently. Stoner highlights Márquez as a consistent and reliable rider, regardless of the adversities he may face.
