In a historic moment, Ferrari has achieved its 250th victory in its history in Formula 1 thanks to the triumph of Charles Leclerc at the British Grand Prix. This victory comes exactly 75 years after its first victory, also at Silverstone, achieved by José Froilán González with a Ferrari 375.
Since its entry into the championship in 1950, Ferrari has participated in a total of 1131 Grands Prix, with a victory percentage of over 22% during this long period. Currently, the team led by Fred Vasseur is the most successful in the history of Formula 1, with McLaren and Mercedes having 203 and 138 victories respectively, followed at a distance.
At Silverstone, Leclerc added his second victory of the season, which was celebrated by Ferrari’s president, John Elkann, who emphasized the significance of this event for the team’s future. “This is our 250th victory, and the first took place here, at Silverstone. It shows how significant this day is for our history,” Elkann commented.
With this victory, Leclerc now has nine wins in his career, matching Rubens Barrichello on the list of drivers with the most victories for Scuderia. Additionally, the Monegasque driver has managed to register 27 poles, a figure that places him just behind the legendary Michael Schumacher, who has 58 poles in his career.
As of now, Ferrari is second in the Constructors’ Championship, having gained 20 points on Mercedes with this result in Silverstone. Despite this, they still have a considerable gap of 78 points from the leader of the standings, while Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton occupy the third and fourth places respectively in the drivers’ standings.
