The dates of the 2019 MotoGP tests have been published by Dorna after the confirmation from the organisers of the Finland race.

With Finland set to feature on the 2020 MotoGP calendar, the organisers are working day and night to get the new KymiRing circuit ready for a test run before Dorna can give it a final signal to host the championship race and also finalise a date for it.

The circuit is being built by Alexander Wurz’s Test & Training company and as per the latest timeline, it should be ready by August with Dorna confirming the dates for the manufacturers’ test during the weekend of 2019 Qatar GP.

The test, where manufacturers’ teams has to field at least one bike, will take place on August 19-20 after a fruitful meeting between Dorna and the organisers at Losail circuit. “The meetings went very well and everyone is excited to come to Finland.

“What comes to the finishing the circuit, we are working according to the timetable and the track will get tarmac during this summer. Having the test this year is a strong sign that we would be hosting the MotoGP races from next year onward,” said President of the Finnish Motorcycling Federation, Tapio Nevala.

The dates for the two other tests in 2019 have been confirmed as well with Misano hosting a two-day run in the same month as Finland on August 29-30, while Jerez will stage another one after the season ends on November 25-26.

The 2020 season will kick-off with a shakedown at Sepang circuit on February 2-4 with the first of the two pre-season tests taking place at the same venue on February 7-9. As is the case, Qatar will host the second pre-season test ahead of season start.
