Dean Stoneman and Nyck de Vries have been the fastest drivers of the first practice session of Formula Renault 3.5 Series at Nürburgring, Germany. The Dams boys were untouchable ahead of Ellinas and Dillmann.

Round 7 of the championship in Nürburgring, Germany. The battle between Oliver Rowland and Matthieu Vaxivière arrives in another episode, an important one where the Frenchman has to cut the 36 points of gap that the Briton have.

Early minutes in Formula Renault 3.5 Series we always see the drivers setting its first times but when Aurélien Panis (Tech 1 Racing) took the lead, the first red flag of the day came out due to a run off at turn 1 by Sean Gelael (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin). The marshals had to put out of the gravel the Carlin’s car and this made lose a lot of time to the drivers that didn’t set any lap at that moment.

After 10 minutes of non-action due to the red flag, the drivers quickly came back to the track with 33 minutes remaining. Immediately, Tom Dillmann (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) jointly with the Dams racers, Dean Stoneman and Nyck de Vries, led the field at halfway point of the session.

Dams dominated the first part of the session in a one-two for them, follow by Silverstone’s winner, Tio Ellinas (Strakka Racing) and Dillmann. De Vries and Stoneman continued on his dominance and exchanged the first place.

But at the last minute, Ellinas managed to get in first position for some seconds, because quickly De Vries and Stoneman improved to finish in a practice one-two.

Second session will be held at 14.40 (CET) but before that, check out what happened here last year on Race 2, when Vaxiviere started to be competitive.
