The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) have started resurfacing the F1 track after multiple complaints during the 2019 US GP.

The reactions from F1 drivers during the 2019 US GP were not great with regards to the bumps at various portions of the circuit. The feedback from the MotoGP riders were even worse as they felt the effect more due to hard braking of single-seater cars.

Ahead of the packed 2020 schedule, the owners of the Circuit of the Americas have started resurfacing the track, so as to adhere to the complains. The work started earlier in January and should be completed soon, as noted by Tim Wood on Twitter.

Multiple shots of resurface appeared on the platform as COTA itself shared on Thursday. As per latest shots, the work seems to have been done at Turn 1-2 sequence, followed Turn 9-10 and also Turn 16-17-18-19, along with the back straight.

While it is not confirmed but as per Wood, the owners haven’t worked on the drainage system which led to the bumps and also certain other portions where there were bumps. Whether the idea is successful or not, it will only be known when racing action resumes.

First up is the IndyCar test on February 11, with the first race event being the 2019/20 FIA World Endurance Championship’s fifth round on February 22-23, followed by GT World Challenge on March 6-8, MotoGP on April 3-5 and IndyCar on April 24-26.

The F1 brigade will visit much later in the year on October 23-25, with the circuit is also to host the final round of the W Series. Meanwhile, in other news, COTA also hired Rick Abbott as its new COO, who will work closely with Chairman Bobby Epstein.
