The FIA shared a summary of the Spa-Francorchamps F2 crash report which Juan Manuel Correa is not convinced about and wishes to read it in full.
After nearly six months, the FIA published the summary of the F2 crash report, where Anthoine Hubert lost his life and Correa was heavily injured. The findings did not blame any one person or situation but kept it at that multiple factors played a big role.
It started with an off for Giuliano Alesi which caught out Ralph Boshung and Hubert first. When Correa arrived at the scene, he then had an incident with the Frenchman, which ultimately sealed the fate of the either drivers in a gruesome manner.
The G-forces were high for both the drivers upon impact, with the speed level beyond 100 km/hr as well. The FIA noted that safety measures will be put in place but did not specifically mention what they will be. This has left Correa confused.
The youngster reckons the summary has threw more questions than answers and so he will be pushing with his lawyers to get the full report – which is unlikely to be made available to the public. For now, Correa doesn’t seem fully convinced with what he has read.
The statement from Correa stated: “Last Friday the FIA announced that they had concluded their investigation into the accident that took place on August 31st at Spa-Francorchamps and released a summary of their findings.
“FIA’s Safety Department spent more than five months conducting this investigation, but for me, their summary raises more questions than it provides answers. In addition, I find it surprising that the full and complete accident report has not been made available to me, so that I might have a clearer understanding of the conclusions reached by the FIA.
“On August 31, 2019, my friend and fellow driver lost his life, a family lost a loved one, and I suffered severe injuries. We cannot change the past, but perhaps all this pain and sacrifice can have some meaning if it serves to make our sport safer.
“As a result, I will continue to work with my legal team to obtain a copy of the full Accident Report. I hope to be in a position to comment further once the Report has been made available to me, and when I have a clearer insight into the conclusions reached by the FIA and the safety improvements that it intends to bring about.”
