Logan Sargeant and Lucas Alecco Roy will race for Carlin’s F4 British certified by FIA team for the 2017 season it has today been confirmed. As official pre-season testing gets underway at Oulton Park, reigning champions Carlin are proud to confirm two exciting prospects for the season as the team look to continue their form in the highly competitive junior series which has seen them clinch both titles since the Championship’s inception.

Despite being just 16, Sergeant has already enjoyed an enviable career. Taking up karting at the age of eight the young American has since won the prestigious Supernational race in Las Vegas and the Mini ROK World Cup before going on to compete in the KFJ European Karting Championship in 2013. He continued his impressive karting career taking the KFJ World title in 2015 becoming the first driver from the USA to do so since 1978.

Following his successful karting career, Sargeant has since made his car racing debut, currently racing in the inaugural UEA F4 Championship where he is gaining important mileage. The 16 year-old currently sits second overall after three rounds, having taken an impressive nine podiums.

Sargeant said of the upcoming season,

“I am really looking forward to this coming season with Carlin. They have won the Championship two years in a row so they are the obvious team to compete with in the British Formula 4 championship. It’s going to be a very exciting year, and we are all going to be pushing to make it three titles in a row; I will do everything possible behind the wheel to make that happen. Carlin has shown their dominance in the testing that I have done with them, and have been a very professional team to work with. We have a great environment around us with great people, now we just need to apply those things on the track and win another championship!”

Sargeant will be joined in the F4 British Championship by Lucas Alecco Roy who will be making his racing debut with the team for the 2017 season. 19 year old Roy, a rookie to the sport, has previously competed to a high level in dressage. The German now switches from one type of horse power to another as he prepares to take on the F4 British Championship and his first ever race at Brands Hatch in April.

Roy said,

“Obviously I’ve got a lot to learn this season so seat time is very valuable to me. I’ll be making the most of every moment I’m on track to make sure that I can get the experience and consistency I need throughout the season. I don’t know any of the tracks, so I have to make sure that I can get up to speed quickly but after all I’m coming from one sport to another where the dedication required is the same;  I’m a sportsman at heart and competing is what I love. I’m just going to be pushing hard to get to the limit and looking forward to the challenge.”

Sargeant and Roy join Carlin’s F4 British team alongside previously announced driver Patrik Pasma for the 2017 season. Both drivers will be on track testing today at Oulton Park.

Trevor Carlin, racing director added,

“We are thrilled to be able to confirm both Logan [Sargeant] and Lucas [Roy] for the season in what we hope to be another strong showing for Carlin. We have a mix of experience levels but a young and exciting line-up. Lucas comes from a competitive sports background so the mentality and dedication is the same as we look for in our more experienced drivers.  Logan meanwhile has been working with us over the past few months in anticipation of his European racing debut. We’re very much looking forward to seeing them both on track when the season gets underway in April.”
