Callum Ilott driver joins the Dutch squad for the 2016 European Formula 3 campaign.

17 year old British go-karting ace made his debut in racing cars in 2015 in Toyota Racing Series and in European Formula 3 with British squad Carlin. By finishing every race of the calendar and scoring one podium in Nürburgring, Ilott finished 12th in the championship.

Ilott, who will now race independently of Red Bull Junior team, states:

“Teaming up with VAR for 2016 is an ideal move and I have a good feeling about them. They have come close to winning the F3 Championship over the last 2 years and are pushing very hard to improve.”

After a rookie title with Charles Leclerc, Team director Frits Van Amersfoort does not hide his title desires.

“Callum was on our radar from the very first pre season test.”

“Our main goal will be to help him in his ambition to be a regular front runner during his second season in autosport.”

Ilott is the second driver comfirmed with Van Amersfoort Racing, and will be paired with Formula 3 rookie Pedro Piquet while Alessio Lorandi is rumoured to cross way with Ilott and switch from VAR to Carlin.
