Koiranen GP are on pole position for the first race of the weekend at Silverstone, with Jack Aitken setting a time of 1:57.294 in Group B, 0.8 seconds quicker than the fastest time set in Group A by Harrison Scott.

With 9 drivers beating Scott’s time in the second group of qualifying it was inevitable that the Brit was doomed to lose his pole position to another driver. Fortunately for the home crowd, it was Anglo-Korean Jack Aitken who adopted the mantle, his first pole of the season.

Louis Delétraz, who leads the championship, set the 6th fastest time in Group A, putting him much further down the order than he’d have hoped. Luckily for Delétraz and others in the same position as him, there is chance of rain for this afternoon’s race. Should the rain fall the order, already quite mixed up, could be even more shuffled, allowing drivers who aren’t usually as high up the field to take advantage and gain valuable points.

Drivers to watch out for this afternoon include Jehan Daruvala, who was quickest in the first collective test and wasn’t too far off Scott’s pace in qualifying, Harrison Scott, who topped the first qualifying session and has an advantage racing at his home track, and Kevin Jörg, whose consistency combined with his high grid position might see him take a third podium of the year.
