Hitech GP’s Leonardo Pulcini remained on top to end FIA Formula 3 (F3) Championship’s rain-affected Barcelona test.
With rain in the afternoon session, the times from the morning session held on until the end of the the day at the top with Pulcini (1m32.222s) staying in the lead like Day 1 to end the second 2019 F3 test at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Renault junior and ART Grand Prix’s Christian Lundgaard (1m32.369s) slotted in second from fellow junior and teammate Max Fewtrell (1m32.429s) with Campos Racing’s Alex Peroni (1m32.460s) fourth – the Australian caused one of the red flags in the day.
Jehan Daruvala (1m32.507s) was the quickest Prema in fifth ahead of Red Bull junior and MP Motorsport’s Liam Lawson (1m32.621s) with Campos’ Sebastian Fernandez (1m32.627s) seventh, followed by ART’s David Beckmann (1m32.642s).
Ferrari junior and Prema’s Robert Shwartzman (1m32.712s) finished ninth as MP Motorsport’s Richard Verschoor (1m32.722s) rounded out the Top 10 with teammate Simo Laaksonen (1m32.881s) just missing out.
The Finn was followed by Red Bull junior and Hitech GP’s Juri Vips (1m32.901s), Ferrari junior and Prema’s Marcus Armstrong (1m32.907s), Sauber Junior Team by Charouz Lirim Zendelli (1m33.111s) & Raoul Hyman (1m33.226s) in the Top 15.
Zendelli, in fact, topped the day’s afternoon session. Meanwhile, the day had multiple red flag stoppages with Trident’s Niko Kari causing it twice – once stopping at Turn 4. Among others, Campos’ Alessio Deledda stopped at Turn 3.
In addition, Honda junior and Carlin’s Teppei Natori went wide at Turn 9 while HWA Racelab’s Jake Hughes also stopped between Turn 3 and Turn 4 – apart from Kari’s second stop, all of the red flag stoppages happened in the morning session.
Position 16-30: Ye Yifei, Pedro Piquet, Bent Viscaal, Logan Sargeant, Felipe Drugovich, Artem Petrov, Kari, Yuki Tsunoda, Fabio Scherer, Keyvan Andres, Devlin Defrancesco, Andreas Estner, Hughes, Deledda and Natori.
