Mick Schumacher earned his third FIA European Formula 3 Championship at Misano’s Race 1 as he led a Prema 1-2-3-4.
The German had a good getaway from pole on Saturday afternoon as he led the way from teammates Marcus Armstrong, Robert Shwartzman and Guanyu Zhou at the start with Zhou losing out to Shwartzman in the opening lap.
It was a straightforward race at the front as Schumacher remained unchallenged from Armstrong to claim his third win of the season by a 2.224s margin – registering his third victory in three consecutive European F3 rounds as well.
Shwartzman completed the podium as the Russian managed to fend off the charge from Zhou, who finished only 0.667s behind. The Chinese driver tried all to get through the defences of Shwartzman but to no avail.
The Motopark battle between Juri Vips and Dan Ticktum was won by the former to finish fifth after starting seventh in the race. The Estonian quickly cleared Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala at he start and then challenge his teammate midway in the race to finish ahead of him.
The championship leader fell off from Vips’ tail to end up sixth with Prema’s Ralf Aron in seventh after the Estonian also managed to clear Daruvala at the start. The Indian lost another place to HitechGP’s Alex Palou later in the race.
The Spaniard finish eighth with Daruvala in ninth and Motopark’s Jonthan Aberdein completing the Top 10. Palou made up four places from his starting position of 12th to finish well inside the points position.
Aberdein though came under pressure from Carlin duo of Sacha Fenestraz and Ferdinand Habsburg as they finished within a second of the South African but were unable to penetrate through his defences to score the final point.
Position 11-22: Fenestraz, Habsburg, Artem Petrov, Fabio Scherer, Marino Sato, Sophia Floersch, Sebastian Fernandez, Nikita Troitskiy, Keyvan Andres, Ameya Vaidyanathan, Enaam Ahmed and Ben Hingeley.
