Alexander Albon took the lead at the start and kept it to the chequered flag of the second race at Budapest ahead of Arjun Maini and Charles Leclerc.
Arjun Maini started on pole position ahead of Alexander Albon and Charles Leclerc. Little alert for Nirei Fukuzumi quite slow on the gate away but eventually found his pace again. Albon took a good start and overtook Maini but drama happened behind as Akash Nandy’s car rolled over following his left rear wheel exploded and safety car was immediately deployed to retrieve the car of the Malaysian driver who could get out of his car all alone.
After three laps of safety car, the race went green and Ralph Boschung found himself right at the back of Leclerc and touched the Monegasque car before being hit by Jack Aitken and dropped down to P8 and was handed a drive through penalty for causing a collision with Leclerc.
Nyck de Vries continued his come back he started the race before, up to thirteenth ten laps into the race. The top six ran in close formation although Albon and Maini seemed to get away from Leclerc. The Monegasque driver tried to achieve the fastest lap of the race but Albon kept it to the end despite a short getting off in his last lap.
Alexander Albon took his third win of the season ahead of Arjun Maini -who claimed his first podium in GP3- and Charles Leclerc. Aitken, Fukuzumi, Parry, Dennis, Isaakyan, Jörg and Fuoco completed the top 10.
Thanks to his fastest lap, Albon took the lead of the championship for three points to Leclerc. Fuoco remained third.
