Sebastian Vettel was fastest in the last free practice session ahead of his teammate Kimi Räikkönen and Lewis Hamilton, while Nico Rosberg crashed due to a suspension failure.
Some teams decided to do long-runs in order to compensate for the time they lost yesterday with the rain. The high temperature on track caused blistering on the Mercedes rear tyres. While Rosberg and Hamilton were doing race simulation, Vettel was on top of the time sheet ahead of Räikkönen, Ricciardo, Bottas, Massa, Verstappen, Hülkenberg, Gutiérrez, Grosjean and Kvyat. Räikkönen stole the lead from Vettel halfway through the session, while Verstappen improved the Williams’ time and Alonso climbed up to 10th.
The session was red flagged with 22 minutes to go after Rosberg crashed in Turn 2 after breaking the rear left suspension on the kerb, making it complicated for him to take part in qualifying. The session was restarted 10 minutes later and Vettel took P1 back from his teammate. Hamilton went up to 3rd behind the Ferraris, while Bottas spun in the last corner but could continue his session. The top 10 was completed by Ricciardo, Versteppen, Bottas, Massa, Hülkenberg, Button and Alonso.
