Thomas Bearman, the younger brother of F1 driver Oliver Bearman, has begun his own adventure in the Italian F4 with the Van Amersfoort Racing (VAR) team. After a year in the British F4, Thomas seeks to demonstrate his talent in a championship with a rich history that the best drivers aspire to conquer.

The season started at Misano, where Thomas was forced to face new challenges. Although his previous experience on European circuits is limited, he maintains a positive attitude towards the difficulties of racing in an unfamiliar environment. “I am not a novice driver, but this is the first time I have raced at all these circuits,” highlights Bearman.

The Italian tracks offer a driving style different from the British one, with wider circuits that allow for a more performance-focused approach. Thomas has noticed that the warmer weather conditions affect the tire strategy during the races.

Although the British championship has grown in prestige, in Thomas’s eyes, the Italian F4 remains the primary goal. “Putting your name in such a prominent championship is the aim for this year,” he states. Thomas anticipates that another season in the F4 will allow him to mature and develop the necessary foundations to advance in his career.

After a difficult start in Misano, where he had a good time in practice, the qualifying did not go in his favor, leaving him fighting to regain positions over the weekend. Moreover, he escaped a severe accident during the race that could have been dangerous.

Thomas reflects on his adaptation to a new team and a new car. “It’s a change not only of people but also of work philosophy. Each team has its own method, and it’s important to adapt quickly to progress,” he comments.

After the first round, Bearman returned to competition at Vallelunga, where he scored points in all the races, reaffirming his role in the team and providing good competition against rivals like US Racing and Prema.

Aside from being the brother of an F1 driver, Thomas insists that he wants to build his own career. “I have to learn on my own, so even though my brother is a good support, my growth depends on my experiences,” he asserts.

With the aim of winning the championship and honing his skills, Bearman seeks to continue progressing in his career, with his sights set on future competitions. His goal is to become a more complete and refined driver, ready for the next level of competition.
