Singapore GP: Norris creates healthy lead to top FP3

Lando Norris sets solid pace in FP3 of Singapore GP ahead of George Russell, as Oscar Piastri feels better in third.

The start of FP3 in F1 Singapore GP at Marina Bay Circuit was red-flagged for a monitor lizard on track in the final sector. At that time, it was only Aston Martin duo on circuit. After initial delay, the track action kicked-off as it got hectic all-through.

The soft tyre run saw McLaren’s Lando Norris set sound pace to top FP3 in F1 Singapore GP with a 1m29.646s lap, as he was 0.479s ahead of Mercedes’ George Russell in the process. The latter had multiple run-off moment as he continued to fight the circuit.

McLaren’s Oscar Piastri felt much better with his car in FP3 to be third as the Top 3 were quite far ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Dutchman reported about feeling better than Friday, but the final run didn’t seem as hooked-up.

He led the two Ferrari cars of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, where both didn’t feel good on the soft compound to be away Norris in the standings. Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was seventh from the Williams pair of Alexander Albon and Franco Colapinto.

Albon had a puncture after he clipped the wall in the middle of the session. The Top 10 was rounded out by Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, with Visa Cash App RB’s Yuki Tsunoda slightly away from his Friday standards in 11th.

The pair of Haas were 12th and 13th, with Nico Hulkenberg ahead of Kevin Magnussen in the order. Alpine’s Pierre Gasly survived a close wall moment to be 14th with teammate Esteban Ocon in 16th after not feeling that well with the car.

They had Red Bull’s Sergio Perez in between in 15th after the Mexican couldn’t hook-up a good lap in his attempt, as Visa Cash App RB’s Daniel Ricciardo and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll found themselves only 17th and 18th. The back of the grid saw Kick Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.
