The organisers of Australian GP has decided to shut off track access to fans for the 2024 F1 race post the conclusion of the grand prix.
After what happened at the end of the 2023 Australian GP where certain fans invaded the Albert Park circuit in the presence of a ‘live’ car to get to the podium, the organisers have decided to shut off track access to fans for the 2024 F1 race.
Due to the delay in the end to the 2023 race after multiple red flags, some of the ticket holders jumped the gun to enter the track around the Turn 1 area. A stricken Haas of Nico Hulkenberg was at sidelines and there were fans who got close to the car.
This led to a FIA investigation and due to the ongoing deliberation, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation has decided to do away from track access for the 2024 Australian GP. If it changes for the future races, they will inform the same.
“The Australian Grand Prix Corporation advises that given the ongoing FIA investigation into the early track breach at the conclusion of the 2023 event, there will be no track access for patrons following the FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX 2024,” said the AGPC in a short statement. “Decisions regarding patron access to the track at the conclusion of future races will be made at a later date.”
The 2024 Australian GP is scheduled to take place on March 21-24. The 2023 event, meanwhile, also had some of the fans hit by debris in the crowd. The season saw multiple incidents involving guests and or fans, whether in Azerbaijan GP and or Brazil GP.
