Nyck de Vries is the first polesetter of the season. At the end of a session affected occasionally by rain showers, the young driver of Koiranen GP managed 1’46”059 with slick tires, taking advantage of the brilliant job carried out by the team that managed to find the “right window”.
First Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS 2014 venue thus opened under the Dutch sign who proved to be faster than the Estonian Hans Villemi (Prema Powerteam) and the French Simon Gachet (Arta Engineering).
Fastest in the first group was the Brazilian Bruno Bonifacio, him too racing for Prema. He will then be in the Race 1 first row along with De Vries. Behind him there will be the two British Jack Aitken and Sebastien Morris racing for Fortec Motorsports, while their teammate Matt Parry ended up in the gravel with just few minutes left. Red Flag and end of the session for all.
In top positions also the Ukranian Danyil Pronenko, fourth in his session on the AS Motorsport car managed by GSK Grand Prix, the Sergio Cane team that also cheered for the seventh ovearll of the rookie Matteo Cairoli, still though author of a minor mistake in the last sector.
Not a lucky session for Dario Capitanio (BVM Racing), halted by the Red Flag after having marked second best in the first two sectors. Technical problems instead on the car of the Russian Egor Orudzhev (Tech 1 Racing).
