Williams Racing has appointed Simon Roberts as its full-time team principal from 2021 F1 season onward as Jost Capito joins as Chief Executive Officer.

After his brief stint with McLaren in 2016, Capito finally gets his F1 break with Williams as he has been hired to be the new CEO of the team by Dorilton Capital. He will take over the work from February 1, 2021, onward and will report to Matthew Savage.

Capito has been successful leader in WRC when working with Volkswagen Motorsport and will look to put Williams back on track in the future. The team also appointed Roberts as a full-time team principal after the departure of Sir Frank and more so, Claire.

Roberts will report to Capito, who will in turn report to Savage. “It’s a great honour for me to join Williams Racing during these exciting and demanding times for both the team and for Formula One,” said Capito. “It is an honour to be a part of the future of this storied team, and one that carries such a poignant name in the sport, so I approach this challenge with great respect and with a huge amount of relish.”

At the same time, Savage added: “We are excited to welcome Jost Capito as the new CEO of Williams Racing. He is an experienced and competitive individual, who has built winning teams and is a winner in his own right.  He understands the Williams heritage and will work well with the team in pursuit of our objective to return to the front of the grid.”
