The FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) released the provisional calendar for 2020/21 season which includes Monza and Kyalami.
With 8 Hours of Bahrain this weekend at Bahrain International Circuit, WEC released details of the new season in 2020/21 with two new venues as a replacement to existing ones. The total number of races remains as eight with Le Mans 24 Hours serving as the finale.
The pre-season test is slated to take place at Silverstone on August 31 and September 1, with the first round at the same venue on September 5 with the 6 Hours of Silverstone in 2020. The WEC circus will then head off to a new venue at Monza in Italy then.
The 6 Hours of Monza takes place on October 4 which replaces the Shanghai race as they have the lone Asian WEC round of 6 Hours of Fuji on November 1, followed by 8 Hours of Bahrain on December 5, which is the final event of the year 2020.
They will have the second new entrant with Kyalami in South Africa as the 6 Hours of Kyalami takes place on February 6 in 2021, which replaces this year’s Circuit of the Americas’ WEC round – which is being held as a replacement to Brazil.
The 1000 Miles of Sebring then takes place on March 19 with 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on April 24 and finally the Le Mans 24 Hours on June 12-13 to conclude the running in the 2020/21 WEC season.

“The calendar is also great for our logistical road map as it provides our teams with the most cost-effective package possible. We hope this Season 9 schedule will make our competitors and fans very happy.”
At the same time, Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO) commented: “What better way to usher in the new era of Le Mans Hypercars than with this excellent 2020-21 calendar.
“Reflecting an ever-evolving automotive industry, the WEC continues to present automotive manufacturers with an ideal showcase for their products, and even more so as we look towards the future and the introduction of different renewable energy platforms.”
