Juri Vips and Robert Kubica are latest names to be added on the list who will get to drive in FP1 of F1 Spanish GP with Red Bull and Alfa Romeo.

After Williams confirmed Nyck de Vries as a replacement to Alexander Albon for F1 Spanish GP weekend’s FP1 session, Red Bull and Alfa Romeo are latest to reveal Vips and Kubica for the same for this weekend as the duo get their first chance to drive in an official session.

While for Vips, it seems to be utilisation of the mandated young drivers’ session, it doesn’t seem the same for Kubica who doesn’t fit in the young drivers’ category. The Estonian is to replace Sergio Perez, while the Polish driver will replace Zhou Guanyu.

For Red Bull, this was already firm that Vips would do a FP1 session with them as Franz Tost earlier confirmed about the Estonian doing it for the senior team while Liam Lawson to do with them. It will be a busy weekend for the Estonian with his F2 duties.

It remains to be seen if Vips will get another chance to fulfill the second session. On Alfa Romeo side, it is unclear how they will approach their young drivers’ situation where Theo Pourchaire is the front runner to drive in at least one session.
