Yamaha MotoGP racer Maverick Vinales has updated on his recovery time frame after spending a day in the hospital due to motocross training injury.
With MotoGP action halted until May at least, some of the riders are under lock-down, while some are training to keep themselves safe. Yamaha’s Vinales was in the later group last week when the Japanese manufacturer released information about an injury.
They posted a photo of Vinales in the hospital where he was kept for a day as a precautionary measure. There was no fracture noted but upon returning home, the Spaniard updated on his recovery process which will take two weeks.
“Hi guys, I am back home, luckily I am ok, now I will have two full weeks of recovery so I will keep you updated. Thank you for the messages and for all the support,” summed up Vinales on a video he posted on his social media channel.
While it is not good to have an injury but with no racing on and countries going under lock-down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Vinales or any other rider won’t lose much in that scenario and can be fully fit by the time MotoGP is back in action.
In fact, Honda’s Marc Marquez had troubles with his shoulder as well during the pre-season MotoGP testing. The time between now and then will help him recover better and be 100 percent whenever the season goes off eventually.
At present, the 2020 MotoGP is due to start during the March 3-5 weekend with the Spanish GP at Jerez with rounds like Thai GP, Americas GP and Argentina GP already re-scheduled towards the end of an extended year.
Despite the start date, it is not certain if the season will kick-off then as WHO declared the disease as pandemic and Spain is currently under lock-down for 15 days. Additionally, other European nations are also facing troubles which could hamper the calendar more.
