F1 stars like Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo were present for Honda Thanks Day in Motegi alongside MotoGP/Enduro riders, Super GT/ Super Formula drivers and more.
The annual Honda Thanks Day for 2023 season took place on Sunday at Twin Ring Motegi, with drivers from F1, IndyCar, F2, Super GT and Super Formula present alongside the MotoGP and Enduro riders, to thank and greet the fans.
The day started with AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda driving the Brabham BT16 alongside IndyCar’s Takuma Sato and F2’s Ayumu Iwasa driving the HRS-24 machine. The event was followed by Honda’s Motocross performance in the dirt around the circuit.
The Red Bull Honda RB16B was in action next being driven by Team Mugen’s Tomoki Nojiri, who drives for the team in Super Formula. His car from the championship, in turn, was driven by Iwasa, who will compete in the championship for the 2024 season.
It was followed by another rallycross run which was followed by a mixed Kart Race involving the likes of Tsunoda, Ricciardo, Perez, Verstappen, Iwasa, Joan Mir and more. The TCR cars were in action followed by demonstration of all categories in one go.
It included the Red Bull and AlphaTauri cars along with the IndyCar and even MotoGP bike. Post lunch, the Super Formula cars were in action, followed by more of F1 and MotoGP action as a special Motocross programme was then held on the dirt track.
The Super GT mini-race was undertaken next which was followed by the special standalone F1 showrun involving the Red Bull and AlphaTauri cars. While Tsunoda and Perez drove the F1 cars, Ricciardo and Verstappen drove the Honda Civic as the day ended with a farewell for Marc Marquez.
