Letzte Generation take responsibility of disrupting the start of Race 2 of Formula E Berlin EPrix weekend when they jumped on track.

While there was nothing of such on Saturday of the Formula E weekend in Berlin, the start of Race 2 on Sunday was delayed when protesters jumped in front of the car as they lined up on the grid to gear up for the five red lights to illuminate.

There were several who climbed the fence on the main straight to disrupt the proceedings. The security managed to take them away as post-race, Letzte Generation took responsibility of the disruption which upset several drivers.

“The race was temporarily delayed while local authorities responded to a protest action unrelated to the event. Security services quickly and safely contained the disruption,” a statement from Formula E stated. “The event was able to proceed as planned.”

German group Letzte Generation has been holding several protests across the country over this weekend and they chose Formula E event for an international statement. “We are at the Formula E racetrack to sound the alarm,” they wrote. “It’s time to slow down.

“Because we’re on the highway to climate hell with our foot on the accelerator. In the emergency we are in right now and the disaster we are heading towards, we need to go into emergency mode now. In order to protect our livelihoods, we now need an emergency brake from the federal government.”
