F1 champion Mario Andretti got the chance to drive the McLaren MP4/28 at Laguna Seca during the Velocity Invitational event.
The 2013 McLaren MP4/28 – which was driven by Jenson Button and Sergio Perez – was out in action at Laguna Seca on Saturday during the 2022 Velocity Invitational event. The 1978 F1 champion Andretti drove the car in its current livery with Zak Brown in attendance too.
It was a smooth run for the American who was delighted by the drive. He was not the only one driving the McLaren as two-time F1 champion Mika Hakkinen drove the MP4/2 – which was driven by Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.
At the same time, McLaren’s IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward got to drive the MP4/5 which was also driven by Prost and Senna. While these guys had a showrun at Laguna Seca, Brown is competing in a Supercar event driving the Holden VE Commodore.
