Formula 2 racer and junior Frederik Vesti will get his first taste of the Mercedes W13 machine during the post-season Abu Dhabi test.

With Nyck de Vries getting his last run with Mercedes in Mexico and Stoffel Vandoorne to join Aston Martin in 2023, the team will give its junior Vesti a chance to drive the W13 machine during the post-season Abu Dhabi Young Drivers’ test at Yas Marina circuit.

Vesti has had a mixed first F2 season with ART Grand Prix where he sits in eighth with a win and three podium finishes. After de Vries, Vesti is the next experienced junior member at Mercedes and it is natural for the Dane to get a gig in Abu Dhabi.

“First time in a F1 car, Frederik Vesti will be behind the wheel of the W13 at the Abu Dhabi post-season test, driving on the rookie day,” read a statement from Mercedes. The test is lated to co-incide with Pirelli’s tyre test on November 22-23.

“A childhood dream coming true! On the 22nd of November I will complete my first ever running in a Formula 1 car at the Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi! It’s an incredible sign of trust from Mercedes which I like to thank Mercedes for,” said Vesti.
