Max Verstappen has once again demonstrated his skill as a driver by winning an intense competition at Silverstone, where he surpassed 100 amateur karters in just 14 laps. In an event organized by Red Bull called ‘Max vs 100’, the world champion needed just over 37 minutes to complete his task.
The challenge took place on a circuit specially designed for the occasion, which combined sections of the single-seater circuit with a karting track. Each lap was completed in around two minutes aboard the go-karts. The participants, who included content creators and racing fans, also had the option to take a ‘fast lap’ to pull ahead a little more in the early laps.
Despite the advantages for amateurs, Verstappen demonstrated his superiority. In his first lap, he had already overtaken 64 competitors, with skills that made his experience as a Formula 1 driver evident. ‘When I saw where I had to start, I thought it was very far away,’ he reflected. ‘But after that first lap, I thought we were fine.’
During the race, Verstappen even cut some corners, an action that intensified the excitement of the competition. He quickly began to gain ground, overtaking 75 karters by the fourth lap and 84 by the next. The atmosphere reminded of the dynamics of his comebacks in professional races, like the 2024 Brazilian Grand Prix, but with the difference that his rivals were amateurs.
After taking the initiative, he continued to advance until positioning himself among the top four competitors in no time. Aside from the competitive aspect, the experience seemed to be a fun moment for Verstappen, who did not hesitate to joke with his opponents when he had the chance to communicate with them.
Finally, he closed the challenge in style, overtaking two rivals on the last lap in a spectacular move at the final corner. ‘The first lap was chaotic, you wanted to survive, and then it was a pleasure to hunt them down,’ Verstappen summarized about his experience on the circuit.
