Max Verstappen has had a day with mixed feelings in Montmeló. After some decent laps, the Dutch driver had to stop for a very long time, and he even left the track. Despite this problems and the difficult conditions, he managed to complete 65 laps to end the day in fourth position.

He spoke to the media at the end of the session, on which he did some laps under the snow during the last hour: “It’s been quite positive. Of course you need to set the balance and stuff, but the initial feeling is very positive and when you’re first feeling is positive, as a driver, it’s good. It’s early to compare things,” Said about the engine. “We’re not at that stage yet, we’re trying to do laps and check everything, and maybe during next week we will start looking into that.”

“It’s the same for everyone,” He replied when asked about the weather forecast. “It was very cold today so it was really difficult to swith on the tyres.” He was asked about the new RB14 after that, and he told that “It’s still early, but like I said, I have a positive feeling.”

“I was tired, so I took a nap,” He joked when he was asked about the time he was not on track. “Actually, we had a fuel leak and we had to check everything in the car and when we were stopped the track was on a very bad state so we didn’t really lose much time. I think we completed kid of what we wanted to do. We tested a few things and I was happy.”

Tomorrow, pre-season testing will go on and Verstappen‘s team mate Daniel Ricciardo will be the one driving the car. The Dutchman will be back on Thursday.
