Luca Ghiotto has no rival today at Spa-Francorchamps and wins for third time this season in GP3 Series. This make more gap with Esteban Ocon who finished second, taking his seventh podium of the season. Celis from ART GP claims his maiden podium in the series.

Busy night today in GP3 Series. The winner of yesterday’s race, Esteban Ocon, was penalized with 5 seconds of penalty because he breached the Virtual Safety Car speed limit at Turn 15-16, this makes Bernstorff the winner of the race.  Eriksson was penalized too because he did his drive through penalty under Virtual Safety Car. All this thing helps Ghiotto to get more distance in the championship with Ocon. Aleksander Bosak was going to start from the pole.

Palou made an incredible start as he was follow by the ART Grand Prix drivers of Ocon, Celis, Kirchhofer and then was Ghiotto. The Pole sitter, Aleksander Bosak (Arden International) had a poor start and lost the leadership, but the driver from Arden International had a puncture, went off at Blanchimont and then crashes into the barrier. His tyre then came to the track and contact with Matt Parry (Koiranen GP) who lost the control of his car and crashed at Bus Stop. Ashkanani (Campos Racing) have puncture with all that debris. Bernstorff (Arden International) had to retire in the pit lane too.

This makes a safety car situation with Palou (Campos Racing) in the lead, ahead of Ocon, Celis, Ghiotto (Trident) and Kirchhofer (ART Grand Prix).

After 2 laps under safety car, the green flag came out, and Ghiotto was able to overtake Celis (ART Grand Prix) for third place, behind him Kirchhofer get defensive with the attacks of Fuoco (Carlin) at Kemmel straight with the Ferrari Academy driver who anyway tried to overtake the German but they crashed and caused the safety car again.

On lap 8 the action returns, as Ocon (ART Grand Prix) was overtake by Ghiotto for the second place. One lap later the Italian did the same on Palou for the lead of the race, Ocon follow him for second place.

In the last point positions, Tuscher overtook his Jenzer Motorsport teammate, Ralph Boschung for sixth place and then did the same with Fontana (Status Grand Prix). A great comeback for the Swiss driver who started from pit lane and in the last lap had time to overtake Palou for a final fourth place.

From 23 points of gap to 28 points, this is the gap that Ghiotto have in the championship ahead of Esteban Ocon.

Next, GP3 Series round will be held at Monza in two weeks’ time.
